Temperley Bridal launched 15 years ago – how do you feel bridalwear has changed in this time? Separates and shorter cocktail dresses have risen in popularity. There's definitely an increasing demand for contemporary designs as people are no longer getting married in the conventional way; destination weddings, multiple events and several outfit changes means the traditional dress isn't the only option.

How would you say you approach to bridal design has changed over this period?
Designing bridal is different from designing our mainline collection, especially when the dress is bespoke because you're working with not only your own ideas but the ideas of the bride. I have a consultation with the bride and then I start sketching – it's a very collaborative process. When designing a collection, I've realised that it's important to offer a variety of options – we have romantic, timeless dresses alongside more glamourous, statement or bohemian pieces.

What was the inspiration behind your latest bridal collection, Dahlia?
The Dahlia collection brings freshness and a distinct individuality to Temperley Bridal. The embellishments are inspired by decorative necklaces and tiaras of the Art Nouveau period, while the sense of lightness, grace and delicacy is achieved using the finest silks and chiffons, which blend seamlessly into French laces and exquisite tulles. Dahlia offers the perfect fusion of timelessness and absolute fantasy. These are dresses that will stand the test of time.

We LOVE Dahlia. Do you have a favourite dress from the range?
I wouldn't be able to choose; to me they're all my favourites!

Your label is known for its bohemian style and stunning embellishments. Are you always experimenting with new materials and finishes?
Our bridal collection showcases craftmanship and artisan techniques. Every new season, we artwork embroideries that are unique to the collection and source the finest silks, tulles and French laces.

How would you describe the Temperley bride in three words?
She's confident, feminine and free-spirited

What are the most important things a bride should consider when shopping for a wedding dress?
Stay true to your individual style and trust your own instinct. On the day, you should look like yourself, not anyone else.

Do you have a dream bridal client?
No two clients are ever the same. I love designing wedding dresses as I get to create magical, fantasy dresses for that very special day in a woman's life and I'm truly honoured to be a part of that experience.

What's your favourite bridal or wedding trend of the moment?
There's an increasing demand for alternative bridal dresses. Dresses no longer need to be monochromatic, and we reflected this in the last collection with Bibi, which features colourful embroidered English wildflowers. Ribbons and bows adorn its bodice and full skirt.

What's the ultimate wedding fashion faux pas?
A wedding is so personal, so to avoid any faux pas all you have to do is to stay true to yourself.
