Shoot coordinator and photographer Emma J. Smith explains, “We wanted the theme and story to reflect changes to wedding ceremonies caused by the pandemic. Specifically, the increase in couples planning outdoor celebrant-led ‘I dos’ that are fun, personal and intimate.” Here, the couple literally tie the knot during a hand-fasting ceremony and later jump the broom. Sustainability and absent family also featured, with individual grazing boards and cakes, an heirloom dinner service and pre-loved wedding dress. The decorative items were all handmade by small local businesses and framed pictures of family members hang from the orchard’s trees. 44
