Your Bristol & Somerset Wedding - April/May 2023 (Issue 94)

Jess and Pete met at school, but not as children, as teaching staff! Jess knew she liked the look of Pete when she encountered him being shown around the school on his first day. “According to friends at school, the electricity was there straight away between us, and it wasn’t long before we had to embarrassingly ask the headteacher for permission to go on a date,” Jess remembers. During lockdown, Jess and Pete would spend the permitted daily exercise time to go cycling. One day, they headed along a local cycle track on their bikes before stopping for a rest where they could enjoy a beautiful view. Jess was facing the other way when Pete got down on one knee, so it was a bit of a surprise when she turned around. “Pete was so nervous and I didn’t expect it at all, so there were lots of tears and a definite, ‘yes,’” Jess shares. Read on as the bride tells us all about the big day... LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION Jess’ grandpa grew up in Nunney and she’d often go to stay, so it hold many happy memories. For Pete a church wedding was important, plus Jess has relatives buried at Nunney Church. Happily, thanks to the bride’s family connection they were granted permission to wed at this place that was so special to them. “For me, it heightened my emotions and made the ceremony even more special,” Jess tells us. When it came to searching for a wedding venue, Court Farm was only the second they visited. “As soon as we saw it we fell in love and knew it was where we wanted to get married. It had different areas that we knew would be a great way to add variety and interest to our day for our guests,” Jess explains. What's more, being a complete blank canvas, Court Farm made it possible for the couple to shape the day of their dreams exactly as they wanted it from food to styling and everything in between. And with gorgeous accommodation for 14 guests to stay on-site the decision was a simple one. The date was set for 30th July, 2022. IN AN ENGLISH COUNTRY GARDEN When looking for inspiration for their venue styling, the couple found themselves drawn to a rustic, barn, countryside, English cottage garden vibe. “We were keen to use delicate and soft pastel colours, as opposed to bold hues,” Jess says. This palette ran beautifully throughout the flowers, attire and décor. Jess’ cousin put together the floral arrangements, “It was incredibly special to get married and to see Jess looking so amazing.” – Pete 36
