February/March 2019

With Christmas, New Year’s Eve and Valentine’s Day being the three most popular times to get engaged, many of you will be picking up the magazine for the first time – with a shiny new rock on your finger! I know that wedding planning can feel like a mountain to climb in the beginning, which is why we pack these pages with as much expert advice and inspiration as we can squeeze in, helping you to plan the best day of your life.

Your first port of call is to find the setting for your big day. You’re spoiled for choice in Bristol and Somerset, with some of the most varied and unusual venues in the country available; turn to page 23 for our top picks. If you love a good nose – like I do – then turn to page 40 for our gorgeous real weddings and see how other couples have rocked their day in their own way. Over on page 77, our fabulous fashion editor, Claire Ridley, is showcasing some of the most dramatic and showstopping gowns money can buy – make sure you check them out!

The Castle at Taunton

The beautiful wisteria-clad Castle Hotel has origins dating back more than 1,000 years, making it one of Britain’s most historic hotels. Tucked away in the grounds is the tranquil Norman rose garden, a gorgeous space for arrival drinks. Within the venue are large tapestries, dark wood and a sweeping staircase, evoking its long history.

Ceremonies can take place in one of four rooms, with the biggest accommodating up to 100 people. The Music Room, the largest space, has high ceilings and plenty of natural light. The Garden Room provides romantic flair and overlooks the moat wall, while the Wisteria Room offers a smaller alternative for 50 guests. The most intimate setting is the elegant Penthouse. With its stunning vistas from a French courtyard-inspired roof terrace, it’s one of Taunton’s best-kept secrets.

The evening reception usually takes place in the Music Room, with a disco, dancefloor, casual seating and buffet catering for up to 100 people. Other spaces are available for smaller parties. Run by the Chapman family for more than 65 years, the venue prides itself on exceptional service and fabulous food.

This must-visit show, located on the historic Brooklands motor racing circuit in Weybridge, will boast nearly 200 exhibitors, from bridal boutiques and photographers, to florists and cake designers. With a huge range of specialists all under one roof, this is set to be one of the largest wedding exhibitions to be held in the South of England and our biggest event to date!

What’s more newlyweds-to-be and their entourages can enjoy fashion catwalks taking place in the AMG Performance Centre hosted by Brides Visited (www.bridesvisited.co.uk) and From This Moment (www.fromthismomentbridal.co.uk).

If that’s not enough to help you on your wedding planning journey, couples can partake in styling demonstrations and watch live entertainment, all whilst enjoying samples and tasters from our exhibitors.

By attending our exhibition couples will benefit from free entry, will receive a goodie bag including a copy of a County Wedding Magazine as well as be entered into a competition to win honeymoon to a luxurious destination.
