April/May 2020

I always know spring has arrived when the evenings start to get lighter and I have an overwhelming urge to watch Four Weddings and a Funeral – my unofficial way of marking the start of wedding season. Unfortunately though, during these unprecedented times, there will be a wait for the two spring weddings I had in the diary this year.

As a small gift while we're locked down at home, we're offering all of our digital titles for FREE, and we've got a fab issue for you. I’m super-nosey so I particularly love our real wedding features (starting on page 26), and our lovely fashion editor, Claire Ridley, always has a treat with her incredible dress picks (page 58).

Don’t know where to start with your wed-min? We have three whole pages of advice from local experts in our Planning SOS feature (page 49). If you’re longing for some sunshine, then we hear you! Check out our travel section (page 90). We can still dream for 2021.

Enjoy!

Old Down Manor

This beautifully refurbished manor house and its stunning grounds offer a wonderful big-day backdrop with stunning views of the Severn Bridge overlooking the Welsh countryside.

There is a choice of venue on site. The Manor offers lavish interiors, a grand sweeping staircase, pretty orangery and a vaulted atrium, while The Barn is full of rustic charm. I dos take place in four places. The Orangery (150 guests) and Bernays Room (80 guests) are the largest settings, while the Atrium (70 guests) allows for a grand entrance down the staircase. Smaller gatherings are suited to the Piano Room (40 guests).

Post vows, guests can spill on to the manicured lawn for a drinks reception, or stay inside in the Atirum or Bernays. For the evening reception, the Manor can host 200 partygoers. Couples can take advantage of its extended licence and dance the night away in the secret Cellar Bar until 3am.
