June/July 2021

Looks like we made it! At the time of writing, we’re heading towards the summer of love, and I am ecstatic: sunshine, laughter, friends, family and WEDDINGS are just what we need right now. I hope all of you who have had to deal with the stress and upset of rearranging your wedding are soon able to have your dream day – goodness knows you deserve it! And I hope that every hug is a little tighter, every dance move is executed with more pizzazz and every moment is full of joy.

As always, we’re bringing you the absolute best of the Bristol and Somerset wedding industry this issue. Every venue (page 15), photographer (page 88), boutique owner (page 53) and venue stylist (page 47) over these pages has had to diversify and show extraordinary resilience during the pandemic, and they can finally get back to doing what they do best: creating the most epic weddings imaginable for you lovely lot!

Thornbury Castle Hotel

Thornbury Castle boasts the best-preserved Tudor gardens in England. With the backdrop of the grand castle and surrounding wisteria and English roses, the grounds here offer the perfect big-day setting.

The honeymoon destination of Henry VIII and Anne Boleyn, this venue is steeped in history. From the original mounting steps where Henry VIII would have stood, to the feature oriel windows, there are endless fairytale features. Each bedchamber allows guests to step back in time, with four-poster beds and exposed stone walls.

Intimate ceremonies can be held in The Library (14 guests), The Lounge (24 guests) or outside in the Summerhouse in the rose garden (14 guests). Larger parties will love the historic splendour of The Goodly Gardens (75 guests) or The Tudor Hall (75 guests), with its stone walls, original fireplace and oriel window.

Small post-vow celebrations are held in The Baron’s Sitting Room and Chancellor’s Lounge (20 guests). These two adjacent rooms provide a long feature dining table alongside a private lounge. The largest celebration space is The Tudor Hall and Boyling House (120 evening guests). The Tudor Hall can be transformed into a memorable wedding breakfast room, with Boyling House providing a private reception room and bar.
