Barns brimming with colour

Rebecca and Adam's wedding was brimming with colour.

Rebecca and Adam Fricker met in the age-old way: down the local pub. “A month later, we bumped into each other again at a music event at Butlins in Minehead,” Rebecca tells us. “Two-and-a-half years later, we got engaged!”

It was Christmas Day when Adam decided to pop the question. “I had no idea he was going to do it,” Rebecca says. “It was just the two of us in the morning. Then both our families came around so we could share the exciting news.”

The pair set the date for 5th May, 2018, and chose the picturesque Barn at Cott Farm as the setting. We caught up with Rebecca to find out more…

Our centrepieces were pretty milk bottle racks with mixed colourful freesias. My mum made gorgeous bouquets to match.

Barns brimming with colour: Image 2The venue had a relaxed outdoor vibe, and it worked perfectly with our vision for the day: a happy, cheerful event with colourful pastel touches.

Barns brimming with colour: Image 2b We gave a personal touch to the table plan with Polaroid photos of all of our guests on strings of lights attached to a board of painted wooden slats. The place settings and table names were lovely clay hearts.

Our guests were treated to a table of eight amazing cakes made by my mum: two coffee and walnut, two Victoria sponge, two lemon and two chocolate. Delicious!

Barns brimming with colour: Image 4b I wanted a simple dress with just a touch of detail. I went to Kate Walker Bridal, and she made my gown from scratch.

Our bridesmaid was our niece, Lily. She looked wonderful in a light grey gown from AbideMaids.

We had acoustic music outside while we enjoyed the sunshine, followed by a fantastic live band called The IOUs. We didn't need lots of added extras – just free-flowing drinks and all our friends and family in one place.

We've got some brilliant memories of our special day. The ceremony was so personal and really meant a lot to us. Then mingling and drinking in the afternoon was perfect; the weather was beautiful!

A highlight for us was Adam's brother's attendance. He had a bleed on the brain in February 2016 and was in hospital for almost a year. It's been a long road to recovery, and it was so special that he could be there as Adam's best man and stay for an hour after the vows.
