Marcus admits he wanted the element of surprise when he chose the moment to propose to Sarah. Avoiding asking the question while they were away on several trips, he finally chose a breakfast-time going down on one knee with a piece of heart-shaped toast! Getting the answer he'd hoped for, they set about making plans.
Sarah has helped arrange many weddings for other people as she works for a catering company. “I had a love/hate relationship when organising our wedding, as when it's your own you feel the pressure to please everyone,” says Sarah.
They opted for the rustic charm of Huntstile Organic Farm, in the heart of Somerset. Their friends got married there previously and they'd loved it for its relaxed vibe and homely feel.
“Dinah, our florist placed hydrangeas in the archway for the ceremony. I've always loved the pompom effect of them and they looked simple yet effective on the day,” recalls Sarah. Here she shares more of the special touches that went into their big day.
My two best friends, Becky and Louisa were bridesmaids. We chose Twobirds blush pink dresses, as they are so versatile, especially as Louisa was pregnant.
On the tables we had logs with hydrangea centrepieces on rustic wooden tables with splashes of pretty colour, and metallic candles.
