Tell us a bit about your business...
The Kind Living Salon, based in Weston Super Mare, is a 100% vegan, natural and organic space, which stands by the ethos of ethical luxury - it's beauty wrapped in kindness.

Offering beauty and holistic services, the salon uses the Zao range. Highly certified, eco-friendly, vegan, natural and bamboo-infused make-up that makes a beautiful bride glow; it's the natural look perfected.

What's your background and why did you launch your business?
I trained in beauty therapy back in 2005 and qualified to level 3. I became head therapist at two salons before returning to education and changing course for a few years, completing a degree and becoming a specialist tutor in autism.

Once I had had my son five years ago, I returned to offering massage and make-up for my friends and family and from there The Kind Living Salon was born. I was able to align my lifestyle and personal ethics with my industry. Since 2017, the salon has been proving that you can still deliver amazing results without the toxins or cruelty.

What's your favourite type of wedding to work on?
I have worked in various settings from commercial hotels to outdoor woods and unique wedding venues - but my favourite wedding is with any bride and their party that wish to put the health of themselves and their skin, the animals and the environment first. My services are suitable for all brides, offering restorative treatments and de-stress packages too. However, I am mainly attracting brides who want vegan, cruelty-free and eco-conscious products as a priority.

What's your top tip for couples planning a wedding?
Don't get stressed about it. It sounds simple, but the negative effect that stress can have on you and the big day are so detrimental. Small plans and big dreams are a good formula. At the end of the day, a wedding is about marriage, and in any form, marriage is a very special union. So, what you want as a couple is truly the only thing that matters.

What's your favourite thing about working in the wedding industry?
The pure joy of seeing love everywhere! Love is the purest way to heal and be happy. I'm always filled to the brim with joy when I'm around brides and their friends and family on the big day. It's such a buzz. I also love the build-up to the wedding - working on skincare, and of course, the amazing make-up!
