Honeymoon winners share their experience

Honeymoon winners share their experience: Image 1

CWM has some amazing honeymoon competitions each issue, so it was lovely to hear from one of our winners about their wonderful prize and experience...

Mr & Mrs Edwards were lucky enough to win two return flights from London to Grand Cayman, seven-nights accommodation in the Westin Grand Cayman Seven Mile Beach Resort & Spa, breakfast every morning at the hotel, and the choice of an experience including swimming with stingrays and scuba diving.

"I writing to thank you for the honeymoon in the Cayman Islands that we enjoyed in October," Lucy Edwards. "We found out while we were celebrating our "pre-versary" (one year till we were to be married). We were both very excited as we were considering not having a honeymoon to save money to buy our own house after the wedding. So I can't say it enough. Thank you so much for this amazing honeymoon! We really loved the whole island, the hotel and excursions were excellent.

The staff at the Westin were very welcoming and when they discovered it was our honeymoon, they upgraded our room and gifted us a bottle of wine and chocolate strawberries. During our whole stay they helped us book our extra excursions.

"Holding the Stingrays at the sandbar was a real once-in-a-lifetime experience, we will cherish those memories forever.
"We enjoyed learning about the preservation of the native blue iguana and other wildlife at the botanical garden. And with the car hire we managed to see the whole island so we didn't miss a thing.
"The catamaran sunset dinner made a perfect ending to our honeymoon. The food and views were spectacular.
"Whilst on the island we also visited the turtle centre, rum distillery, crystal caves as well as monuments around the coastline like the wreck of the seven sails, lovers wall, rum point and starfish point. As well as all of this we also experienced jet skiing and parasailing. Despite Sean's fear of heights, he is eager to try parasailing again!

"We wouldn't have been able to do any of this if it wasn't for this competition win. Thank you again for this wonderful honeymoon. We will remember our honeymoon for many, many years together. I have attached just a few photos of the many memories that we made - Mr & Mrs Edwards."

Here at CWM HQ, we loved hearing about this awesome adventure the couple had! Please, if you're lucky enough to be one of our winner get in touch too and tell us all about your experience.

More about the island.

The Cayman Islands are three idyllic islands nestled in the warm, turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. Each one offers an individual experience where you can enjoy an average temperature of around 28 degrees Celsius – perfect for a spot of sunshine all year round.

or relaxation, swimming and sunbathing head to Seven Mile Beach, a seemingly endless stretch of pristine white sand and palm trees.
Alternatively, Rum Point is the perfect venue for cocktails, lazing in hammocks and generally soaking up the Caribbean lifestyle. A visit here isn't complete without a delicious mudslide cocktail, rumoured to have been invented at the Wreck Bar back in the '50s. Of course, the crystal clear waters surrounding the islands offer endless hours of entertainment too including sailing, kayaking, jet skiing, kitesurfing and paddle boarding.

To see Grand Cayman from two very different angles why not take a dive to 30 metres without even getting your feet wet on the Atlantis Submarine, or take a stroll around the Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park to admire the colourful flora and fauna? Keep your eyes peeled for parrots!
There are also hundreds of dive and snorkel sites, suitable for every level of expertise with many just a short swim from the shore. Or for something really special, head to Stingray City, a unique site where friendly wild stingrays congregate around a shallow sand bar in open waters, happily interacting with their numerous two-legged admirers.

For European visitors British Airways offer four direct flights a week from London Heathrow to Grand Cayman. Alternatively there are numerous same-day connections through Miami International Airport and various other US airport hubs.
