A winter wedding can be a truly romantic and memorable event, with bright crisp days, festive cheer and warming fires. Yet no matter the season a wedding is expensive, so many couples choose an idyllic mini-moon while they're saving for their full blown honeymoon, and a cosy trip in a cute cottage can be the perfect option. UK holiday rental provider, Snaptrip, has created its top five winter mini-moon spots in Bristol and Somerset to give inspiration for a romantic winter break.

Try the spa at Clifton Lido
For couples who are missing the heat of a honeymoon abroad, a trip to the spa at Bristol Lido will be really warming. An intimate spa day with a trip to the sauna, steam room and hot tub will give any mini-moon a true touch of cosiness. Couples could even enjoy an amaretto hot chocolate and delicious tapas in the restaurant after their treatments.

Festive fun at the Christmas market
A wedding during the festive season can be a unique event which brings everyone together for pre-Christmas fun. Any newlyweds celebrating with a Christmas mini-moon should have a cosy day at Bristol's Christmas market where they can enjoy shopping for festive gifts, delicious drinks and live music. There's even the chance to make a Christmas wish with Santa and his reindeer.

Walk on The Downs
A winter mini-moon doesn't have to be spent inside. If it's a crisp, sunny day a romantic walk over The Downs is perfect. Particularly impressive when covered in frost, or even snow, The Downs is a 440 acre area of flat parkland, and there are breath-taking views of the Avon Gorge, Clifton Suspension Bridge and the Severn Bridge. With Clifton Village bordering The Downs, couples can finish their winter walk with a warming hot chocolate in a cosy café.

Take in the history at Wells
Any newlyweds interested in history should visit England's smallest city, Wells. A settlement since Roman times, Wells has an abundance of historical sights to take in from the 13th century cathedral and the market place, to the Bishop's Palace and Gardens. There's a fantastic range of historic inns available to cuddle up in after a trip through history.

Take a coastal walk at Brean Down
For couples that may have brought their pet pooch with them, or want to experience an exhilarating walk along some of England's most spectacular coastlines, there's nowhere better than Brean Down. The peninsula reaches a height of nearly 100 metres, giving plenty of opportunities for fantastic views and the sandy beach is picture perfect, just make sure to wrap up warm and take a thermos.

To help newlyweds find a romantic place to stay close to these spots, Snaptrip has a range of beautiful holiday cottages and apartments available in Bristol and Somerset.
