We asked Becky Flynn Professional Make-Up Artist what trends work best in a contemporary setting.
For a contemporary-chic vibe, I'd suggest a clean make-up look using muted colours and a smoky eye. First, choose an eyeshadow that suits your skin tone – whether that's a grey, plum or warm bronze – and use this to sweep across the lid as well as underneath the eye. How thick you make this line depends on your eye and face shape.
Brows are always an important feature and are one of the focal points in on-trend beauty looks. Create brush strokes with a pencil. Then blend using a spoolie brush. You're aiming for definition while still looking soft and natural.
For a smooth complexion, I recommend a flawless foundation for your base with a mattifying primer underneath. This allows you to add highlighter where you want it – such as the cheekbones, cupid's bow and nose – while keeping the rest of your face shine-free. Contouring looks beautiful when it's done well; the key is to pick a cool-toned product and blend, blend, blend!
