Gants Mill In Bruton, Somerset has been operating as a wedding venue for 10 years. To celebrate, we caught up with owner Greg Beedle to talk about what's changed in the last decade.
TECHNOLOGY - We're now virtually paperless in the office and of course, we're now online. Facebook and Twitter were very new when we started out but now they're vital to connect with our couples. There's even a wonderful Facebook group for past and previous couples to swap ideas and memories.
TRENDS - We've seen so many trends come and go - remember chocolate fountains? Photo booths and sweet shop tables have proven a more durable trend. We've started to see a lot more live musicians and bands in recent years.
CATERING - Ten years ago food was all served to the table or as a buffet. Now we see more mezze-style sharing platters. We love this as the food comes out quicker and it's much more sociable.
FIRST DANCE - While the tradition of a first dance remains popular, we've seen a wave of couples preferring a first song. The bride or groom grabs the mic and performs a song for their new spouse. On one memorable occasion both bride and groom planned to do this and I was enlisted to accompany them on guitar!
