April/May 2020

I always know spring has arrived when the evenings start to get lighter and I have an overwhelming urge to watch Four Weddings and a Funeral – my unofficial way of marking the start of wedding season. Unfortunately though, during these unprecedented times, there will be a wait for the two spring weddings I had in the diary this year.

As a small gift while we're locked down at home, we're offering all of our digital titles for FREE, and we've got a fab issue for you. I’m super-nosey so I particularly love our real wedding features (starting on page 26), and our lovely fashion editor, Claire Ridley, always has a treat with her incredible dress picks (page 58).

Don’t know where to start with your wed-min? We have three whole pages of advice from local experts in our Planning SOS feature (page 49). If you’re longing for some sunshine, then we hear you! Check out our travel section (page 90). We can still dream for 2021.

Enjoy!

Haselbury Mill

This beautifully preserved 11th-century mill, offering views of the idyllic South Somerset countryside, is situated in 17 acres of grounds. The pretty gardens, lakes and the graceful River Parrett meandering through the middle make Haselbury Mill a picture-perfect spot for weddings. Couples will love the vintage cars and gypsy wagons that adorn the grounds, filling the place with character.

There are three spaces licensed for ceremonies. The Lakeside Room (50 guests) offers waterside views from the original mill. The Great Tithe Barn (300 guests) is an impressive hamstone building with high ceilings and mullioned windows. The Grand Belvedere (300 guests) is a beautiful al fresco structure for vows bathed in sunshine.

For those wanting to continue celebrations, there’s plenty of on-site accommodation, with 21 rooms including a bridal suite and fabulously quirky showman’s wagons.
