Award-winning jeweller Cooljoolz has introduced an alternative metal to the world of wedding rings: tantalum. "It's an interesting, rare metal and we're really excited to be working with it," says Carolyn Moloney of Cooljoolz. "While it's new to jewellery, it's been used in electronics and healthcare for some time. We love the rich blue-grey colour with a masculine appearance. It has the weight of platinum but at a fraction of the cost."
One of the key benefits of tantalum is it doesn't scratch or mark as much as other metals, and when it does, it can be polished back to its original state. "It's already proving popular," Carolyn says. "Especially for those wanting something a little different or for those with an active lifestyle."
