How to achieve a glowing makeup look - with Eye Do Makeup
Subdued lighting requires make-up to be more defined; choose to focus on either your lips or eyes for a statement look. Resist the temptation to load foundation on heavily; layers of lightweight matte-based foundation with a slight yellow undertone will look great in artificial light. To prevent flashback from the camera, avoid bases with high SPF. For low light, choose a highlighter that's four times lighter than your usual shade and contour products that are four times darker. Baby pink or peach blusher offers warmth for lighter skin, medium skin tones suit apricot and darker skin tones look great in raisin or tangerine-coloured blush.
Jewel-toned eyeshadows look especially beautiful in low light; ultra-glamorous shades of violet, pink, burgundy and gold will make eyes pop. Try the new Stoned Vibes palette from Urban Decay, and press the creamy metallic shadows into the centre and corner of the eye. Eyeliner blended into the lash line and smudged into the waterline will complete a smokey look. Apply false lashes for added impact.
If you'd prefer a more subtle eye, then choose a darker hue for your lip colour such as red brick, burnt Sienna or plum. Plump up your colour by applying a dab of gloss in the centre of the lips.
