A fully sustainable retreat for pre-wedding escapism

Blackhouse Forest Estate is nestled in 773 acres of breathtaking, natural woodland, heather and hills of the Yarrow Valley in the Scottish Borders; it makes a stunning pre-wedding or post-wedding getaway destination with family or friends.
With an abundance of indigenous flora and fauna, a stunning Loch and a fully sustainable off grid energy system, it is the ideal destination for weddings, retreats, walking, fishing or just getting away from it all with friends and family. The renewable energy systems create an entirely self-sufficient escape from the pace of everyday life.

As well as the stunning barn - a focal point of the estate - the original croft house is less than a mile away and can currently sleep eight guests in the beautifully appointed accommodation, with bespoke furniture crafted locally from Blackhouse woodland sustainable timber. As with the rest of the estate, the croft house is completely off-grid with energy being provided by hydroelectric, biomass and solar, even the water for the estate is taken from the hills and cleansed with UV light on-site!

The owners have meticulously restored the estate and are in the process of bringing the original open-air sheep roundel back from ruins, to become a unique place for either wedding ceremonies, wellness breaks and creative pursuits and outdoor adventures. Every detail of the stunning venue has been carefully researched to be in tune with the surroundings and true to the history of the area. The district once formed part of the great Ettrick Forest, where Scotland's kings hunted deer. The area is steeped in myth and legend and has contributed to the cultural and literary life of Scotland itself.
Pssst! You can also tie the knot here, to find out more visit the venue's Facebook page
